Campus and facilities

The ÉNSA Versailles library offers documentary resources in the fields of architecture, urban planning, construction, art, gardens and the humanities. It also organizes book events open to the public.

The library's holdings include some 20,000 modern works, 754 of which are old (18th-19th centuries), 132 ebooks, 230 research reports, 396 French and foreign periodical titles, including 115 current subscriptions, around 2,480 dissertations, 3,200 TPFEs and PFEs, 4,000 maps, plans and aerial photographs, and a video library.

Since October 1, 2014, its documentary holdings have been integrated into the ArchiRès portal.

The library is a privileged place within the school where you can find a work space in a calm and welcoming environment. The library team is available to advise and help you.

Fablabs are a worldwide network of local laboratories that boost inventiveness by providing access to digital manufacturing tools. These spaces share and develop a set of skills enabling the manufacture of (almost) any object, by allowing the pooling of resources and projects.

For several months now, the ÉNSA Versailles Fablab has been located in the Maréchalerie building, close to the computer center. It completes the campus project, which is both adapted to digital challenges and conducive to experimentation with new manufacturing processes. It's a place open to all, teachers and students alike, for inventing, innovating, experimenting, testing and exchanging ideas.

Equipment

• Large-format 3-axis digital milling machine:
  The machine can process wood and wood derivatives, plastic materials, some composites, and thin non-ferrous metals (<4mm). Milling gypsum, plaster and stone is not possible.

• Laser cutting machine:
  For low-thickness cutting as well as engraving on wood paper and cardboard.

• 3D printer :
  Makerbot printers for PLA plastic objects.

• Scroll saws :
  Precision machines used for cutting materials in model making.

• Drill press:
  Machine designed for drilling soft materials: wood, plastic.

• Lapidary :
  Machine designed for sanding solid wood and wood derivatives.

• Horizontal band saw :
  Machine designed for cutting metal.

• Spot welder (contact):
  This small-capacity welder enables precision assembly of steel sheets by contact welding (maximum thickness 2x2mm).

• Hand Tools :
  A set of hand tools suitable for a variety of uses (cutting, screwing, metrology, clamping, etc.).

A place for experimentation through work

La Maréchalerie, the contemporary art center of ÉNSA Versailles, is part of the experimental and forward-looking dimension of the higher education establishment. It offers the public outside the school an opportunity to learn about the challenges of contemporary artistic creation through close contact with the work.

Each year, three artists are successively invited to engage in a personal reflection on the territorial and spatial context of the contemporary art center. The artist's research results in a monographic exhibition produced in situ, an edition conceived as an artist's document, and a program of educational and mediation activities - visits, workshops and meetings - that encourages open debate between artists, school staff and visitors wishing to learn about the visual arts.

Dedicated activities encourage ÉNSA Versailles students to gain a sensitive experience of the visual arts, through the programming of workshops led by the teaching teams and guest artists, and through exhibition mediation, visits and workshops carried out by student monitors.

As an experimental laboratory and resource center for the French Ministry of Education, La Maréchalerie's program of activities is part of the Petite Ecole d'Architecture project, conceived as the organ in charge of Artistic and Cultural Education at ÉNSA Versailles. In time, it will roll out a range of activities designed to raise awareness of contemporary architectural and artistic practices among the very young.
